Japanese Red Basil “Shiso” Juice

1+

My friend found Japanese red basil in the market this weekend so I decided to make Red Shiso Juice. This is quite concentrated so normally you add soda or water. Enjoy this gorgeous fragrance! You can keep the sanitized glass jar so that it lasts up to 6 months. Oh, please do not throw the basil leaves after making the juice so that you can make your own Red Shiso Furikake! I will write how I did in a separated post soon….

<Ingredients>

150g of Red basil (Aka-Shiso) including the stems.
800ml of water
280g of white sugar
150g of apple cider vinegar

<Instruction>

1.Wash red basil well.
2.Boil 800ml of water, and add red basil of leaves and stems. Once it soaks into the boiled water, it started becoming green, and the water is becoming dark red. At low to medium heat, boil for 5 mins.
3.Turn off the heat, and remove the basil. Squeeze the basil.
4. Add and dissolve the sugar.
5. Add apple cider vinegar.
6. Pour a clean glass jar and close the lid tight.
